DISTRICT COURT AMENDMENT ACT 1997 No 58—

PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) ANTHONY MURRAY GLEESON, A.C., Lieutenant-Governor.

I, the Honourable A. M. Gleeson, Lieutenant-Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the District Court Amendment Act 1997, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 22 August 1997 as the day on which so much of Schedule 1 [7] to that Act as inserts section 134 (1) (h) in the District Court Act 1973 commences.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence so much of the District Court Amendment Act 1997 as confers jurisdiction on the District Court to deal with matters in relation to an equitable claim or demand for recovery of money or damages iin an amount not exceeding $750,000.
