DISTRICT COURT AMENDMENT ACT 1997—

PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) GORDON SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the District Court Amendment Act 1997, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 18 July 1997 as the day on which that Act (apart from Schedule 1

[7]-[9] and Schedule 2.1, 2.2 and 2.4 to that Act) commences.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Proclamation commences the District Court Amendment Act 1997, except for the

provisions of that Act:

(a)

that confer jurisdiction on the District Court to deal with matters under the De Facto Relationships Act 1984, and

(b)

that increase the Court's jurisdiction in relation to matters under the Family Provision Act 1982 and the Testator's Family Maintenance and Guardianship of infants Act 1916, and

(c) that make consequential amendments.
