DISTRICT COURT ACT 1973—REGULATION
(Relating to fee for referring matter to arbitration)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the District Court Act 1973, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement
1. This Regulation commences on 2 January 1996.
Amendment
2. The District Court (Fees) Regulation 1993 is amended by inserting after item 11 in Schedule 1 the following item:

EXPLANATORY NOTE
Due to the District Court’s case management practices, as many suitable civil cases as possible will be referred by the Court to arbitration. The object of this Regulation is to provide for a fee of $350 for the referral by the Court of a civil case to an arbitrator under the Arbitration (Civil Actions) Act 1983. The fee is to be paid equally between the parties to the case and prior to the commencement of the arbitration.
This Regulation is made under the District Court Act 1973, including section 150
(Regulations: Court fees).
