An Act to further amend " The District Councils Act,
1876."
HEREAS it is desirable to amend " The District Councils Act, Preamble.
2, In case, by resignation or from any other cause, the offices Whenvacancy in

at least before the day fixed for thc election, and such election shall be held and the nomination and (in case of contest) the voting shall be conducted in the same manner, and subject to the same regulations, as are prescribed in " The District Councils Act, 1876,"

with respect to the election of councillors; and every person so elected shall hold office until the time at which the councillor in room of whom he was chosen would regularly have gone out of office, when he shall go out of ofice, but be eligible for re-election.

At the first meeting of the District Council after the appoint- ment herein provided for, a Chairman shall be elected bv a majority of vo& in accordjnce with the said Act, as if the meeting were a first meeting after. an annual election.elected at
first meeting.
