Diseases in Timber Regulation 1997

1   Short title

This regulation may be cited as the Diseases in Timber Regulation 1997 .

2   Definitions

In this regulation—
approved form see section 3 .
declared disease means a disease declared under section 4 .

3   Approval of forms

The chief executive may approve forms for use under the Act.

4   Disease declarations

A disease consisting of the presence of the following organisms is declared to be a disease under the Act—
(a)  Cryptotermes brevis (West Indian drywood termite);
(b)  Sirex noctilio F. (sirex wasp).

5   Infected area declaration

The whole of the State is declared to be an infected area for a declared disease.

6   Measures authorised for infected areas

The taking of measures in an infected area to exterminate, prevent or control the dissemination of the disease the area is declared for is authorised.

7   Declared diseases are notifiable diseases

For section 10(1) of the Act, a declared disease is declared to be a notifiable disease.

8   Prescribed manner for claiming compensation—Act, s 11(1)

For section 11(1) of the Act, a claim for compensation to the minister must be—
(a) in the approved form; and
(b)  given to the department’s office at Brisbane.
