[ASSENTED TO 28TH OCTOBER, 1949.] R E it enacted by the King's Most J1Jxcellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows;- Short title 1. This Act may be cited as "The Diseases in : ~struction. Stock Acts Amendment Act of 1949," and shall be read as one with *" The Diseases in Stock Acts, 1915 to 1948," herein referred to as the Principal Act. Collective The Principal Act and this Act may be collectively title. cited as " The Diseases in Stock Acts, 1915 to 1949." * 6 G. 5 No. 16 and amending Acts.
STOCK. Diseases in Stock Acts Amendment Act. 13 GEO. VI. No. 40,1949. 219 2. Section 7A of the Principal Act is amended as Amendment follows :_ of s. 7A. (i.) The last paragraph of subsection three thereof is repealed and the following paragraphs are inserted in lieu thereof, namely:- "Assessments differing in amounts may be so made and levied in respect of different areas and factories. An assessment so made and levied in respect of any on~ area or factory may provide that different amounts shall be payable thereunder by different producers or different classes or groups of producers as defined therein of the milk or cream to which that assessment relates, and in that case may define different producers or different classes or groups of producers by reference to factories, wholesale vendors, or manufacturers or in any other manner sufficiently identifying them. The powers of the Minister under the preceding paragraph of this subsection shall extend so as to authorise him, by making provision for the payment of different amounts under an assessment, to reduce to such extent, as he deems equitable the amount payable thereunder by such and so many of the producers of milk and cream to which that assessment relates as the Minister is satisfied maintain their dairy herds free from tuberculosis." (ii.) The following paragraph is added to subsection five thereof, namely:- " The Minister may from time to time, by notice published in the Gazette, amend any assessment made by him under this section- (a) By increasing or decreasing the amount of that a.ssessment, or the amount thereof payable by any producers or class or group of producers defined therein; or (b) By redefining the different producers or classes of groups of producers defined therein and by providing the different amounts payable thereunder by the different producers or classes or groups of producers as so redefined; or
