Discrimination Amendment Act 1999

An Act to amend the Discrimination Act 1991

[Notified in ACT Gazette No 45: 10 November 1999]

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

1. Name of Act

   This Act is the Discrimination Amendment Act 1999.

2. Commencement

   This Act commences on the day it is notified in the Gazette.

3. Act amended

   This Act amends the Discrimination Act 1991.

4. Grounds

   Section 7 is amended by inserting after paragraph (f) the following paragraph:

“(fa)breastfeeding;”.

1. Heading to Division 2 of Part 4

   The heading to Division 2 of Part 4 is amended by omitting “or pregnancy” and substituting “, pregnancy or breastfeeding”.

2. Pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding

   Section 37 is amended by omitting “or childbirth” and substituting “, childbirth or breastfeeding”.

3. Accommodation provided for employees, contract workers or students

   Section 39 is amended by omitting from subsection (1) “or pregnancy” and substituting “, pregnancy or breastfeeding”.
