Discrimination (Amendment) Act 1993

An Act to amend the Discrimination Act 1991

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

Short title

1.  This Act may be cited as the Discrimination (Amendment) Act 1993.

Commencement

2.  This Act commences on the day on which it is notified in the Gazette.

Principal Act

3.  In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Discrimination Act 1991.1

Grounds

4.  Section 7 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after paragraph (1) (i) the following paragraph:

“(ia)membership or non-membership of an association or organisation of employers or employees;”.

Professional or trade organisations

5.  Section 15 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting “association or” after “an” in the definition of “organisation” in subsection (1).
