1Name of Regulations

These Regulations are the Disability Discrimination Amendment Regulations 2002 (No. 1).

2Commencement

These Regulations commence on the commencement of Schedule 1 to the Disability Discrimination Amendment Act 2002.

3Amendment of Disability Discrimination Regulations 1996

Schedule 1 amends the Disability Discrimination Regulations 1996.

5Public transportation services and facilities — consultation before exemption

  1. (1)

    For subsection 55 (1C) of the Act, the National Transport Secretariat is prescribed as a body that must be consulted in relation to all kinds of public transportation services and facilities.

  2. (2)

    In this regulation:

Australian Transport Council means the body so named, constituted by a Minister from each of the Commonwealth, New Zealand, each State, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.

National Transport Secretariat means the body so named, established by the Australian Transport Council.
