HER HONOUR:
1I take into account your plea of guilty. I take into account the fairly unusual circumstances of the escape offence where it is somewhat encouraging to see that within a short period of time you were able to self-correct, that is, to present yourself at Corella Place rather than simply continue with what was obviously an attempt to leave the premises.
2It is clear that there was damage caused to the ankle bracelet. I am sure, as you have pleaded guilty, you accept there is no difficulty in that regard.
3Were it not for the fact that you had been held under the holding power, I would have imposed some term of imprisonment. It needs to be clear to you that each and every time you leave Corella Place you will find yourself in gaol, but in these circumstances and given both the attitude of the Secretary, combined with the lower end range of this offending, given the cohort of offences which might be constituted under these provisions, in all the circumstances you are convicted and fined an aggregate, so that is a total amount, of $1200. I grant a stay of three months and you can sort out with trustees a payment plan with the Court. Your trustees will be able to sort that out.
