His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Director of Public Prosecutions Act 1986.

Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is enable the conduct of a 6 month pilot scheme (commencing on 1 July 1996) at Campbelltown and Dubbo Local Courts during which the Director of Public Prosecutions will conduct matters at those Local Courts that are currently conducted by officers of the Police Prosecuting Branch.

This Regulation is made under the Director of Public Prosecutions Act 1986, in particular section 20 and section 37 (the general regulation making power).

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Director of Public Prosecutions

Amendment (Pilot Scheme) Regulation 1996.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 1 July 1996.

3 Amendment of Director of Public Prosecutions Regulation 1995

The Director of Public Prosecutions Regulation 1995 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

(Clause 3 )

Clause 4A

Insert after clause 4:

4A Pilot schemes at Campbelltown and Dubbo Local Courts

(1) The Director of Public Prosecutions may exercise a function in respect of any proceeding at the Local Court at Campbelltown or Dubbo that is usually exercised by an officer of the Police Prosecuting Branch.
(2) This clause ceases to have effect on 3 1 December 1996.
(3) This clause does not prevent the exercise of such a function by an officer of the Police Prosecuting Branch.
