Act No. 20, 1901.

An Act to provide for the removal of human

remains and certain slabs and tombstones from the Devonshire-street Cemetery, and for the re-interment of such remains; and to save the Secretary for Public Works and other persons harmless in respect of certain acts done by them in connection with the

said cemetery. [ 1 7 $ October, 1901.]
BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the
authority of the same, as follows :—
and shall there cause such remains to be reverently re-interred.

1. This Act may be cited as the "Devonshire-street Cemetery

Act, 1 9 0 1 . "

2 . The Secretary for Public Works shall, within six months after

the commencement of this Act, cause the remains of all persons buried in the land known as the Devonshire-street Cemetery, and described in the Schedule hereto (so far as such remains can by reasonable diligence
be discovered), together with all slabs or tombstones in relation thereto

having any legible inscription thereon to be collected with due care and removed to the new cemetery near La Perouse. or some other cemetery agreed upon with the representatives of the said persons so buried,

3. The said Secretary and all persons employed by the Govern­ ment arc hereby saved harmless in respect of any acts done by them in connection with the exhumation of human remains and the removal

of slabs, tombstones, and masonry from the said land between the
first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and one, and the

commencement of this Act.

S C H E D U L E .

All that piece or parcel of land situate in the city of Sydney, parish of Saint

Lawrence, county of Cumberland, and state of New South Wales : Commencing at the junction of the north-eastern boundary of Railway-place with the western boundary of Elizabeth-street; and bounded thence by part of that boundary of Elizabeth-street bearing 1L minutes 5 chains 18ft links ; thence by part of the south-western boundary of Garden-road bearing 3 1 7 degrees 27 minutes 3 0 seconds G chains 2 ] J links ; thence by lines bearing 22G degrees 2 2 minutes 5 chains 7 5 links, 2 2 5 degrees 4 1 minutes 0 chains 3 4 links ; thence by the north-eastern boundary of Devonshire-street bearing 1 1 7 degrees 4 6 minutes 4 0 seconds 12 chains 19 l inks; thence by 0 1 links of the arc of a circle of ?„S chains radius, the centre of which lies to the north-west of the chord which bears 7 4 degrees 5G?„ links ; thence by the western and north-eastern boundaries of railway-place, being lines bearing 1 4 minutes 4 0 seconds 8 chains 8 1 links 124 degrees 3 9 minutes 4 chains 38ft links, to the point of commencement,—be the said several dimensions, all a little more or less, containing 12 acres or thereabouts.
