Part 1              Preliminary

  1. Name

This Determination is the Determination to Reduce Appropriations Upon Request (No. 4 of 2011-2012).

  1. Commencement

This Determination commences on the day on which it is made.

  1. Legislative Authority

(1) Subsection 10(2) of Appropriation Act (No. 1) 2010-2011 enables the Minister for Finance and Deregulation to make a written determination reducing the departmental item for an agency by the amount specified in the Determination, upon receipt of a written request from the Minister responsible for that agency.

(2)   The reduction provisions are included in the annual Appropriation Acts to enable excess departmental appropriation items, administered assets and liabilities items, and other departmental items to be extinguished.

4              Purpose

This Determination reduces the appropriation item for the agency listed in the Schedule by the amount indicated in Column 4.

5              Notes

The Schedule contains a table listing the affected agency in column 1, the Appropriation Act and appropriation item in column 2, which through the request by the responsible Minister in column 3, is reduced by the amount in column 4.

6              Disallowance

This Determination is a Legislative Instrument and is disallowable.

7              Reduction in Appropriation Act (No. 1) 2010-2011

Schedule 1 reduces the departmental item for the former Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts in Appropriation Act (No. 1) 2010-2011.

Note 2: In Appropriation Act (No. 1) 2010-2011 the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities was known as the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.  On 14 September 2010, the Administrative Arrangements Order (AAO) restructured the portfolio responsibilities of the department, and from that date, the department commenced using its current name.
