  1. Conditions

The operation of a B-double on a route determined under clause 3 is subject to any conditions set out in the relevant publication specified in paragraphs 3(a), 3(b) or 3(c), so far as those conditions are not inconsistent with the Act, the Interstate Road Transport ChargeAct 1985, the Interstate Road Transport Charge Regulations 2009 and the Interstate Road Transport Regulations 1986.

NOTE 1:  OPERATING IN THE NORTHERN TERRITORY

Subregulation 79(1) of the Northern Territory (NT) Traffic Regulations provides that each road and public place in the NT is a road train area.  Access is restricted where necessary through signage in urban areas and a road train map is available from the NT for further guidance.  On other parts of the network access is restricted through weight restrictions relating to infrastructure (eg. bridges) and seasonal conditions.

NOTE 2:  In addition to this Determination B-doubles registered under the Federal Interstate Registration Scheme are permitted to operate on a route that is authorised under a relevant instrument made under State and Territory legislation.  See paragraph 12L(1)(b) and Schedule 4A of the Interstate Road Transport Regulations 1986.
