TOTAL ALLOWABLE EFFORT

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority makes the following Determination under subsection 17(6)(aa) of the Fisheries Management Act 1991 and subsection 11(1) of the Southern Squid Jig Fishery Management Plan 2005.

Citation

1.       This Determination may be cited as Determination No. SSJF 01.

Commencement and period of application

1. This Determination commences on registration and ends on 31 December 2006.

   Interpretation

3.       A term used in this Determination by way or priority, or if there is any inconsistency:

(a)     takes the meaning given to it in the Southern Squid Jig Fishery Management Plan 2005; and then

(b)     if no meaning is given to the word in the Southern Squid Jig Fishery Management Plan 2005, takes the meaning given to that word under the Fisheries Management Act 1991.

Determination of total allowable effort

4.       The total allowable effort for the Southern Squid Jig Fishery for the 2006 fishing year is 800 standard squid jigging machines.
