Determination 2018/06:  Members of Parliament

  1. Pursuant to subsections 45(1) and 45(3)(a) of the Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 (the Act), the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the remuneration to be paid out of the public money of the Commonwealth to members by reason of being members of Parliament or particular office holders, and determines as set out below.  The Remuneration Tribunal has also inquired into the  portion of base salary that is not parliamentary allowance for the purposes of the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948, and determines as set out below.

  1. Subsection 47(7) of the Act applies to this determination, so that the disallowance provisions in section 42 of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 do not apply to it.

  1. This Determination commences on 1 July 2018.

PART 1 – REMUNERATION OF MEMBERS: SALARIES  

1.1In this part, Determination Number 23 of 2017 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

1.2Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing “$203,030” with “$207,100” in Clause 2.1.  

1.3Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing “$42,380” with $43,230 in Clause 2.2.

1.4Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing “$152,280” with “155,330” and “$203,030” with “$207,100”  in the note to Clause 2.3.
