Assembly of New South Wales in Pa r l i amen t assembled, and by the au thor i ty of the same, as follows :—
1. This Act may be cited as the ' ' D e n t i s t s (Amendmen t ) Act,
1909 ."
2. Sections three , four, and five of the Dentists Act , 1900, are
repealed, and the following sections are inserted in their place :—
3. (1) The Dental Board shall consist of e igh t members .
Two of such members shall be duly qualified medical practi
| t ioners , and four shall be dentis ts 'registered | under the Pr inc ipa l Act . |
Such m e m b e r s shall be appointed by the G o v e r n o r ; and the Governor shall appoint one of such members to be president of the board. Such appo in tmen t s shall be for a term of th ree years .
The head of the faculty of dent is t ry in the Univers i ty of Sydney and the president of tin- Uni ted Dental Hospital of Sydney shall , ex officio, be the two o ther members of the board.

(2) Any vacancy in the appointed members shall be filled by the appoin tment by the Governor of a duly qualified medical pract i t ioner , or of a dentist registered as aforesaid, as the ease m a y b e ; and the person so appointed shall hold office for the residue of the t e rm for which his predecessor was appointed.
3A . Each member of the hoard shall be paid a fee of one guinea
for each mee t ing of the board which he a t tends , provided tha t the lees paid to any m e m b e r dur ing any year shall not exceed twenty-five guineas.
3. Section six of t he said Ac t is amended by omi t t ing the word

Provided t h a t the regis t rar and other officers hold ing office unde r the said A c t at the commencemen t of this Act shall con t inue to hold office, h u t a t t he pleasure of t he Governor and subject to t he provisions of t he Pub l ic Service Act, 1902, and any Acts amend ing
t h a t Act . 4. Section fifteen of the same Ac t is repealed, and the
following is inserted in its place :—
15. The Governor, on the recommendat ion of the board, may
m a k e regula t ions for car ry ing out the provisions of th is Act , and in
pa r t i cu la r for—
(a) r egu l a t i ng the proceedings and fixing the q u o r u m of the board ;
(b) r egu la t ing the dut ies of officers under this Ac t ;
(c)
prescribing what certificates, licenses, diplomas, degrees, membersh ip , or other t i t les or s ta tus , and w h a t le t ters , test i monials , or documents will be recognised by the board under section twelve ;
(d) r egu la t i ng or prohib i t ing t he employment of persons in
dent is t ry otherwise t h a n under the direct personal supervision of registered dent is ts ;
(e)
regulating the holding of examinations under this Act, and prescr ibing the subjects of and fees for such examina t ions ;
(f) the issue of certificates for passing such examinations, and
for regis t ra t ion unde r this Act . Such regula t ions shall be published in the Gazet te , and a copy
thereof shal l be laid before each House of P a r l i a m e n t wi th in fourteen
days from such publ ica t ion, or if Pa r l i amen t be not t h e n in session,
w i th in four teen days from the c o m m e n c e m e n t of the n e x t session. 5. Section n ine teen of t he said Act is repealed, and the following
is inser ted in its place :—
19. The fees ment ioned in t he Schedule to th is A c t shall be
paid to t he regis t rar . The a m o u n t of such fees shall be paid by t h e
regis t rar in to the Treasury , and shall be carried to t he Consolidated R e v e n u e Fund.
6. On t h e commencemen t of this Act , the D e n t a l Board t hen
in office shall be dissolved, and all regula t ions then in force shall be repealed, and all moneys t hen in possession of t he said board or of any person on behalf of the said board, shal l be paid into t h e Treasury and carried to t he Consolidated Revenue Fund.
