DENTISTS ACT 1989 - REGULATION

(Dentists (Savings and Transitional) Regulation 1990)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Dentists Act 1989, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Citation

1. This Regulation may be cited as the Dentists (Savings and

Transitional) Regulation 1990.

Commencement

2. This Regulation commences on 1 August 1990.

Temporary continuation of Dentists Regulations

3. The Dentists Regulations made under the Dentists Act 1934 are, notwithstanding the repeal of that Act, to be taken to have been made under the Dentists Act 1989 and are to continue to apply, with such modifications as may be necessary.

(a) until such time as this Regulation is repealed; or

(b) until 1 February 1991,

whichever is the sooner.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is, on the commencement of the Dentists Act 1989, to continue in force the Dentists Regulations made under the Dentists Act 1934 for a period of 6 months or until a Regulation is made under the Dentists Act 1989 on the recommendation of the Dental Board, whichever is the sooner. The Dental Board has been reconstituted as a consequence of the enactment of the Dentists Act 1989. The election of members of the reconstituted Dental Board was held on 27 June 1990.
