Queensland Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Amendment Act 1997 Act No. 47 of 1997 An Act to amend the Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Act1991 [Assented to 29 August 1997]
s1 4 s4 Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Amendment No. 47, 1997 The Parliament of Queensland enacts— ˙ Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Amendment Act 1997 . ˙ Amended Act 2. This Act amends the Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Act1991 . ˙ Amendment of s 3 (Interpretation) 3. Section 3(1)— insert— “approved dental prosthetics course” means a course in dental prosthetics declared under a regulation to be an approved dental prosthetics course. “approved oral pathology course” means a course in oral pathology declared under a regulation to be an approved oral pathology course.’. ˙ Amendment of s 21 (Registers) 4. Section 21(2)— omit, insert— (2) The prescribed particulars mentioned in subsection (1) are— (a) for the register of dental technicians—the prescribed particulars stated in section 28(b); and (b) for the register of dental prosthetists— (i) the prescribed particulars stated in section 28(b); and (ii) details entered in the register under section 31A.’.
s5 5 s7 Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Amendment No. 47, 1997 ˙ Insertion of new s 31A 5. After section 31— insert— ˙ Entering in register of additional information 31A. On application made by a registered dental prosthetist who has successfully completed an approved dental prosthetics course or approved oral pathology course, the board must enter details of completion of the course in the register of dental prosthetists.’. ˙ Amendment of s 34 (Restriction on performance of dental technical work and provision of dental prosthetic services) 6. Section 34(2)— omit, insert— (2) A registered dental prosthetist must not supply and fit a partial artificial denture to a person, unless— (a) a dentist or medical practitioner has certified the oral health of the person is satisfactory; or (b) the person performing the work is a registered dental prosthetist— (i) whose qualifications, entered in the register of dental prosthetists under section 28, include the successful completion of an approved dental prosthetics course; or (ii) for whom details of the successful completion of an approved dental prosthetics course or approved oral pathology course are entered in the register of dental prosthetists under section 31A. Maximum penalty—35 penalty units.’. ˙ Replacement of s 59 (Transitional provision for members of board) 7. Section 59— omit, insert—
s7 6 s7 Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Amendment No. 47, 1997 ˙ Regulation-making power 59.(1) The Governor in Council may make regulations under this Act. (2) A regulation may declare a course to be an approved dental prosthetics course or approved oral pathology course from a date before the declaration or for a stated period.’. © State of Queensland 1997
