DENTISTS REGISTRATION ORDINANCE.
DENTAL REGULATIONS.*
REGULATIONS 1963. No. 3.f
1. Regulation 3 of the Dental Regulations is amended by omitting sub- Meetings of
| regulation (4.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulations:— | the Board. |
| " (4.) A motion shall not be proposed at a meeting unless notice in writing of the motion has been given to the Chairman at least seven days before the date fixed for holding the meeting. | |
| " (4A.) The Chairman shall cause a motion of which notice has been so given to him to be included in the business paper for the meeting at which the motion is to be proposed and shall cause a copy of the notice to be sent to each member before the date fixed for holding the meeting.". |
2. Regulation 4 of the Dental Regulations is amended— Particulars in (a) by omitting the words " the Register of Dentists " and inserting Re«i8ter-
in their stead the words " the Register "; and
(b) by omitting the words " any person" and inserting in their
stead the words " a person as a dentist ".
3. Regulation 5 of the Dental Regulations is repealed and the following Prescribed fee.
regulation inserted in its stead:—
" 5 . For the purposes of sub-section (3.) of section 22, and sub-section (3.) of section 23A, of the Dentists Registration Ordinance 1931-1963, the prescribed fee is One pound one shilling.".
4. Regulation 6 of the Dental Regulations is amended— Certificate of (a) by omitting the words " Certificate of Registration " and insert-
ing in their stead the words " certificate of registration "; and(b) by omitting the words " dentist registered " and inserting in
their stead the words " person registered as a dentist".

| DENTISTS REGISTRATION ORDINANCE— |
5. Regulation 7 of the Dental Regulations is repealed and the following regulations are inserted in its stead:—
"7.—(1.) In this regulation— Permitted ' address', in relation to a registered dentist, means the address of rejisleled8 by
his place of residence or of a place at which he carries on, dentists,
or has carried on, as the case may be, the practice of dentistry;' approved description ', in relation to a registered dentist, means the words ' dentist', ' registered dentist', ' dental surgeon ' or ' registered dental surgeon ' or any other words that are ap- proved by the Board and indicate that he is engaged in the practice of dentistry;
' glass ' includes any translucent material;

' honour' , in relation to a registered dentist, means an honour
conferred on him by the Sovereign;
' qualification', in relation to a registered dentist, means a qualifica- tion obtained or possessed by him in connexion with the practice of dentistry, and includes a qualification testified to by a testimonial, degree, diploma, licence or certificate from a university, college or other body or consisting of a fellowship or membership of a college or society of dentists;
' telephone number' , in relation to a registered dentist, means the number of a telephone at his place of residence or at a place at which he carries on, or has carried on, as the case may be, the practice of dentistry.
" (2.) A registered dentist may, not more than twice in any period of twelve months, cause to be published in a newspaper or newspapers an advertisement not exceeding two inches by one inch in size announcing the commencement, sale, purchase or removal by him of a dental practice.
" (3.) A registered dentist may announce—
(a) the sale, purchase or removal by him of a dental practice;
(b) his absence from or return to a dental practice; or(c) the entering into, or dissolution of, a partnership with another
registered dentist in connexion with a dental practice,
by sending or causing to be sent to each of his patients one letter, in an envelope upon the outside of which there is no writing other than the name and address of the person to whom the letter is sent, containing the announcement and, where appropriate, setting out his name, honours fif any), qualifications, address, hours of consultation and telephone number and an approved description of him.
" (4.) A registered dentist practising dentistry on his own account or in partnership with another registered dentist may cause to be exhibited outside the premises at which the practice is carried on, or, if the practice is carried on at two or more premises, outside one of those premises, not more than two notices—
(a) the areas of which do not exceed, in the aggregate, two square feet; (b) the lengih of each of which does not exceed two feet;
(c) the letters on which are not formed by lighting or any simibr
device;
(d) the height of any of the letters on which does not exceed three
inches;
(e) that do not contain any particulars other than the dentist's name, honours (if any), qualifications and hours of consulta- tion and an approved description of the dentist; and
(/) that are not illuminated.
" (5.) A registered dentist practising dentistry on his own account or in partnership with another registered dentist at two or more premises may cause to be exhibited outside any of those premises, other than premises outside which he causes a notice to be exhibited in accordance with the last preceding sub-regulation, one notice—
(a) the length of which does not exceed twelve inches;

(b) the width of which does not exceed six inches;
(c) the letters on which are not formed by lighting or any similar
device;
(d) the height of any of the letters on which does not exceed three
inches;
(e) that does not contain any particulars other than the dentist's name, honours (if any), qualifications and hours of consulta- tion and an approved description of the dentist; and
(/) that is not illuminated.
" (6.) A registered dentist practising dentistry as an employee of another registered dentist may cause to be exhibited outside the premises at which he practises as such an employee one notice—
(a) the length of which does not exceed twelve inches;
(b) the width of which does not exceed six inches;(c) the letters on which are not formed by lighting or any similar
device;
(d) the height of any of the letters on which does not exceed three
inches;
(e) that does not contain any particulars other than the dentist's name, honours (if any), qualifications and hours of consulta- tion and an approved description of the dentist; and
(/) that is not illuminated.
" (7.) A registered dentist practising dentistry on his own account or two or more registered dentists practising dentistry in partnership may cause to be exhibited outside the premises at which the practice is carried on, or, if the practice is carried on at two or more premises, outside one of those premises, one lamp—
(a) containing one fixed light that shines continuously when the
lamp is lit;
(/>) the length of the glass on each side of which does not exceed
fifteen inches;
(c) the width of the glass on each side of which does not exceed
twelve inches;
id) the glass in which does not contain more than two colours, one of which is the colour of the background and the other of which is the colour of the letters;
(e) no part of which other than the glass contains any writing;
(/) the writing on the glass of which does not contain any particu-lars other than the name, honours (if any), qualifications and hours of consultation, and an approved description, of the dentist or of each of the dentists; and
(g) the framework of which is not illuminated.
" (8.) A registered dentist practising dentistry on his own account or in
partnership with another registered dentist may cause to be exhibited inside
any premises at which the practice is carried on not more than two notices—
(a) that do not contain any information other than the dentist's
name, honours (if any) and qualifications and an approved
description of the dentist;

(b) the height of any of the letters on which does not exceed two
inches; and
(c) that are so placed that the writing on the notice or notices is
not visible from outside the premises.
"(9.) A registered dentist practising dentistry as an employee of another registered dentist may cause to be exhibited on the door of the surgery occupied by him in any premises at which he practises as such an employee one notice of a kind referred to in the last preceding sub-regulation.
" (10.) A registered dentist may-
(a) give, Or cause to be given, to any of his patients an appointment card on which particulars of his name, honours (if any), qualifications, address, hours of consultation and telephone number, and an approved description of himself, are written;
(b) write, or cause to be written, on a letterhead, memorandum or form of account used by him in connexion with his practice his name, honours (if any), qualifications, address, hours of consultation and telephone number and an approved descrip- tion of himself;
(c) cause his name, honours (if any), qualifications and address, and an approved description of himself, to be published in type other than bold face type in a telephone directory issued by or on behalf of the Postmaster-General's Department; and
(d) cause his name, honours (if any), qualifications and address, and an approved description of himself, to be published in a notice, booklet or other pUblication issued by or on behalf of a friendly society or benefit lodge and indicating that he is a dentist for the society or lodge and also containing the particulars of the other dentists, and of the medical practi- tioners, pharmacists, optometrists and opticians, (if any) for that society or lodge .
