Dental Practice Amendment

(Qualifications) Regulation 2009

under the

Dental Practice Act 2001

Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Dental Practice Act 2001.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Dental Practice Regulation 2004 as follows:

(a)	to prescribe the combined Bachelor of Oral Health (Dental Science) and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry from Griffith University as necessary qualifications for registration as a dentist,
(b)	to prescribe the Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Queensland as a necessary qualification for registration as a dental hygienist, dental therapist and oral health therapist,
(c)	to prescribe the Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Melbourne as a necessary qualification for registration as a dental hygienist and dental therapist.

This Regulation is made under the Dental Practice Act 2001, including sections 8 (1) (a),

21 (1) (a) and 158 (the general regulation-making power).

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Dental Practice Amendment (Qualifications)
Regulation 2009.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the
NSW legislation website.

[1]      Schedule 1 Qualifications for registration as a dentist

Insert at the end of the Schedule:

(z) Bachelor of Oral Health (Dental Science) and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry, Griffith University, Queensland.

[2]      Schedule 2 Qualifications for registration as a dental hygienist

Insert at the end of the Schedule:

(i)      Bachelor of Oral Health, University of Queensland, Queensland,

[3]      Schedule 3 Qualifications for registration as a dental therapist

Insert at the end of the Schedule:
