DENTAL ACT 1939

DENTAL BOARD AMENDMENT RULES 1996

Made by the Dental Board of Western Australia and approved by the Governor in Executive Council.

Citation

1.     These rules may be cited as the Dental Board Amendment Rules 1996.

Commencement

2.      These rules come into operation on the day on which the Dental Amendment

Act 1996 comes into operation.

Principal rules

3.	In these rules the Dental Board Rules 1973*	are referred to as the principal
rules.

Rule 12 repealed

4.      Rule 12 of the principal rules is repealed.

Rule 14 repealed and a rule substituted

5.     Rule 14 of the principal rules is repealed and the following rule is

substituted -

"

Prescribed training

14.     (1) For the purposes of the sections of the Act listed in the Table

to this subrule the courses of training provided by the institutions set out

in the Table are prescribed.

(2) For the purposes of the sections of the Act listed in the Table to

subrule (1) the examinations set as part of the courses of training set out

in that Table are prescribed.

Rule 15 amended

6.     Rule 15 of the principal rules is amended -

(a)	at the end of paragraph (d) by deleting the semicolon and substituting a full stop; and
(b)	by deleting paragraph (e).

Rule 22F amended

7.    (1) Rule 22F (1) and (2) of the principal rules are amended by inserting

after "dental therapist" the following -

dental hygienist or school dental therapist ".

(2) Rule 22F (3) of the principal rules is amended by inserting after "dental

therapist" in each place where it occurs the following -

or dental hygienist ".

(3) Rule 22F (4) of the principal rules is deleted and the following subrule

is substituted -

(4) For the purposes of section Soc (1) (a) (ii) of the Act the

prescribed time is 6 months from the completion of the treatment.

Rule 33 amended

8.    Rule 33 of the principal rules is amended by deleting "dentist, dental

therapist" and substituting the following -

99 registered person ".

Various rules amended

9.    Rules 6, 15, 17, 18, 30 and 31 of the principal rules are amended by

deleting "dentist or dental therapist" in each place where it occurs and

substituting the following -

99 registered person ".

First Schedule amended

10.    (1) Form 1 in the First Schedule to the principal rules is deleted.

(2)	Form 2 in the First Schedule to the principal rules is amended -
(a)	in the heading by deleting "AS A DENTIST OR DENTAL THERAPIST";
(b)	by deleting "Dentist/Dental Therapist pursuant to the provisions of the Dental Act 1939-1972." and substituting the following -

Dentist
Dental Therapist
Dental Hygienist

School Dental Therapist

[delete those which are not applicable].

(c)	in item 6 by deleting "of Dental Therapist";
(d)	in item 7 by inserting after "Practice," the following -

School Dental Service, ";

(e)	in item 12 by deleting "as a Dentist / Dental Therapist"; and
(0	in item 14 by deleting "Dentist / Dental Therapist?" and substituting the following -

"

Dentist, Dental Therapist, Dental Hygienist or School Dental

Therapist? "

(3)	Form 3 in the First Schedule to the principal rules is amended -
(a)	in the heading by inserting after "THERAPIST"' the following -
"

/ DENTAL HYGIENIST / SCHOOL DENTAL

THERAPIST

and

(b) by deleting "Dentists or Dental Therapists" and substituting the

following -

Registered persons ".

deleting ", in the case of a person previously registered as a Dentist or Dental (4) Form 5 in the First Schedule to the principal rules is amended by

(5) Form 8 in the First Schedule to the principal rules is amended by

deleting "to practice dentistry" and substituting the following -

(6) Form 9 in the First Schedule to the principal rules is amended in the

heading by deleting "DENTIST OR DENTAL THERAPIST" and substituting the

following -

44 REGISTERED PERSON ".

Second Schedule amended

11.    The Second Schedule to the principal rules is amended by inserting after

"therapist" in both places where it occurs the following -

,dental hygienist or school dental therapist ".
