An Act to amend the law relat ing to the hold ing of offices in case of t he demise of the Crown. [10th December, 1901.]

B E it enacted by the K i n g ' s Mos t Exce l len t Majesty, by and wi th t h e advice and consent of t he Legislat ive Counci l and Legislat ive
Assembly of N e w South Wales in P a r l i a m e n t assembled, and by the

au tho r i t y of t h e same, as follows :—

1. This Ac t may be cited as t he " D e m i s e of the Crown Act ,

1 9 0 1 . "

2. (1) The holding of any office under t he Crown shall no t be

affected nor shal l any fresh a p p o i n t m e n t there to be rendered necessary

by the demise of t he Crown.
(2) I t shall not be necessary for t h e holder of any office
u n d e r t he Crown who before such demise has t aken any oath prescribed

or provided for in a n y S ta tu t e to again t ake such oath after such

demise ; b u t where any such oa th relates only to t h e t hen r e ign ing
Sovereign, it shall be deemed to re la te to such Sovereign, H e r or H i s
He i r s and Successors, according to law.

(3) This A c t shal l t ake effect as from the last demise of the

Crown.
