REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE FORCES RETIREMENT BENEFITS ACT 1962-1963.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits Act 1962-1963.

Amendments of the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits (Prescribed Contributors) Regulations 

Commencement.

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on the fourteenth day of February, 1966.

Fortnightly contributions payable by prescribed contributors—other than those referred to in regulation 6.

2. Regulation 5 of the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits (Prescribed Contributors) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (4.) and (5.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulations:—

“(4.) For the purposes of the last two preceding sub-regulations, the amount is—

(a) if the category changed by reason of an increase in his daily rate of pay resulting solely from an amendment of the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits (Daily Rates of Pay) Regulations—One dollar multiplied by the number ascertained in accordance with the formula C (A — B);or

(b) in any other case—One dollar multiplied by the number ascertained in accordance with the formula—

AC — BD + E — F.

“(5.) For the purposes of the last preceding sub-regulation—

A is the number of the category in which the officer is included immediately after the change;

B is the number of the category in which the officer was included immediately before the change;

C is—

(a) if the number of pay-days applicable to the officer is a number specified in the first column of the Table applicable to the officer—twice the first factor specified in that Table opposite to that number of pay-days; or

(b) in any other case—the factor ascertained in accordance

D is—

(a) if the number of pay-days applicable to the officer is a number specified in the first column of the Table applicable to the officer—twice the second factor specified in that Table opposite to that number of pay-days; or

(b) in any other case—the factor ascertained in accordance

E is—

(a) if the number of pay-days applicable to the officer is a number specified in the first column of the Table applicable to the officer—twice the third factor specified in that Table opposite to that number of pay-days; or

(b) in any other case—the factor ascertained in accordance

and

F is—

(a) if the number of pay-days applicable to the officer is a number specified in the first column of the Table applicable to the officer—twice the fourth factor specified in that Table opposite to that number of pay-days; or

(b) in any other case—the factor ascertained in accordance

Fortnightly contributions payable by members (other than officers) on change or category.

3. Regulation 7 of the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits (Prescribed Contributors) Regulations is amended by omitting the word “pounds” (wherever occurring) and inserting in its stead the word “dollars”.

Fourth Schedule.

4.  The Fourth Schedule to the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits (Prescribed Contributors) Regulations is repealed and the following Schedule inserted in its stead:—
