An Act to amend
the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits
Act 1948–1957, and for purposes connected therewith.

BE
it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives
of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
Short
title and citation.
1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits Act 1958.
(2.) The Defence Forces Retirement
Benefits Act 1948–1957 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits Act 1948–1958.
Commencement.
2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives
the Royal Assent.
Calculation
of contributions by Commonwealth.
3. Section thirty-two of the Principal Act is amended by inserting in
sub-section (3.), after the words “Defence
Forces Retirement Benefits Act 1957”; the words “and the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits Act 1958”.
Pension
on death of married member.
4. Section fifty-five of the Principal Act is amended by omitting
from sub-section (2.) the words “Twenty-six pounds” and inserting in their
stead the words “One hundred and four pounds”.
Pension
on death of pensioner.
5. Section fifty-seven of the Principal Act is amended by omitting
from sub-section (4.) the words “Twenty-six pounds” and inserting in their
stead the words “One hundred and four pounds”.
Pensions
payable in respect of orphans.
6. Section fifty-eight of
the Principal Act is amended by omitting from sub-section (1.) the words “Seventy-eight
pounds” and inserting in their stead the words “One hundred and fifty-six
pounds”.
Children’s
pensions payable to guardian.
7. Section sixty-four of the Principal Act is amended by omitting
from sub-section (1.) the words “Seventy-eight pounds” and inserting in their
stead the words “One hundred and fifty-six pounds”.
Payment
of pension.
