Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR AVIATION, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of State for Defence, hereby make the following Interim Determination under section 12 of the Defence Amendment Act 1979.

Previous service by officers

1. Regulation 7a of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1) “The Minister” and substituting “Subject to sub-regulation (9), the Minister”; and

(b) by inserting after sub-regulation (8) the following sub-regulation:

“(9) This regulation applies to an officer who—

(a) on the day immediately preceding the day on which he is appointed as an officer, was not a member of the Defence Force; or

(b) is an officer of the Air Force who, immediately preceding the day on which he was appointed as an officer, was successively—

(i) not a member of the Defence Force; and

(ii) an officer trainee to whom item 9 of Schedule 9 applied, other than an officer trainee known as a cadet aircrew or an officer trainee at the Officer Cadet School, Portsea.”.

2. Schedule 4 to the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is amended by inserting before “Sub Lieutenant” in column 1 “Acting Sub Lieutenant”.
