REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1973, THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1973 AND THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1973

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1973, the NavalDefence Act 1910-1973 and the Air Force Act 1923-1973.

Amendments of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations

Schedule 1.

1. Schedule 1 to the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is repealed and the following Schedule substituted:—

Schedule 5.

2. (1) Schedule 5 to the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting the words and figures:—

and substituting the words and figures:—

“ Rear Admiral........................................ Major-General .................. Air Vice Marshal............... 25,690 ”.

(2) Schedule 5 to the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting the words and figures:—

“ Commodore ........................................ Brigadier .......................... Air Commodore ................ 21,417 ”;

and substituting the words and figures:—

“ Commodore ........................................ Brigadier .......................... Air Commodore................ 23,760 ”

Amendment of Statutory Rules 1974, No. 208.

3. Statutory Rules 1974 No. 208 are amended by repealing regulation 6.

Special allowance—Senior Medical and Dental Officers.

4. (1) An allowance is payable to a member who is a medical officer or dental officer within the meaning of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations in respect of service during the prescribed period in the rank of—

(a) Commodore in the Naval Forces;

(b) Brigadier in the Military Forces; or

(c) Air Commodore in the Air Force,

at the rate of $1,596 per annum.

(2) In sub-regulation (1), “ prescribed period ” means—

(a) in relation to a member of the Naval Forces or of the Military Forces—the period that commenced immediately after 20 March 1975 and ended immediately before the date of commencement of this sub-regulation; and

(b) in relation to a member of the Air Force—the period that commenced immediately after 19 March 1975 and ended immediately before the date of commencement of this sub-regulation.

Application.

5. The amendments effected by regulation 1 and sub-regulation 2 (1) apply to and in relation to—

(a) members of the Naval Forces and of the Military Forces—as if those amendments had come into operation on 21 March 1975; and

(b) members of the Air Force—as if those amendments had come into operation on 20 March 1975.
