INTERIM DETERMINATION UNDER THE DEFENCE AMENDMENT ACT 19791

I, the Minister of State for Administrative Services acting for and on behalf of the Minister of State for Defence, hereby make the following Interim Determination under section 12 of the Defence Amendment Act 1979.

AmendmentS of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations2

Service allowance

 1. Regulation 10 of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) “$1,321” and substituting “$1,380”.

Special allowance — senior medical and dental officers

 2. Regulation 10A of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

• “10A.

  (1) An allowance is payable to a member who is a medical or dental officer in respect of service in the rank of —

  • (a)

    Commodore in the Navy;

  • (b)

    Brigadier in the Army; or

  • (c)

    Air Commodore in the Air Force,

at the rate of $3,752.

• “(2)

  An allowance is payable to a member who is a medical or dental officer in respect of service in the rank of —

  • (a)

    Rear-Admiral in the Navy;

  • (b)

    Major-General in the Army; or

  • (c)

    Air Vice-Marshal in the Air Force,

at the rate of $1,821.”.

Senior chaplains’ allowance

 3. Regulation 16 of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting “$589” and substituting “$616”.

 4.Schedules 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations are repealed and the following Schedules substituted:
