Declaration of Warlike Service

OPERATION HUSKY

I, Bruce Billson, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, for the Minister for Defence:

a.declare that:

(i)     the area of operations comprises Sierra Leone; and

(ii)     service rendered as a member of the Australian Defence Force allotted for duty on Operation HUSKY during the period 15 January 2001 to 28 February 2003 in the area of operations is warlike service for the purposes of the definition of “warlike service” in section 3C of the Defence Force (Home Loans Assistance) Act 1990.

b.         this Declaration commences on the day after it is registered.
