Defence Force Discipline Regulations2

(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Force Discipline Act 1982.

1. Regulation 13 of the Defence Force Discipline Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

Visiting officers

“13. An authorized officer shall appoint, in respect of each area detention centre or corrective detention centre, at least one officer to be a visiting officer.”,

Employment

2. Regulation 17 of the Defence Force Discipline Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (4) “Sunday, Christmas Day or Good Friday” and substituting “day of religious observance”; and

(b) by adding at the end the following sub-regulation:

“(5) In sub-regulation (4), ‘day of religious observance’ means Christmas Day, Good Friday or—

(a) in the case of a detainee of a particular denomination, a day recognised as the sabbath in that denomination; or

(b) in any other case, Sunday.”.
