1  Name

This instrument is the Defence Determination (Serious illness, long service leave and travel) Amendment 2018 (No. 5).

2  Commencement

This instrument commences 8 February 2018.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903

4  Schedules

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments

Defence Determination 2016/19, Conditions of service

1 Section 1.3.72 (Serious illness), table item 1

Omit "member's", substitute "person's".

2 Paragraph 5.5.28.1.f (Pro rata entitlement)

After the paragraph, insert:

g.

Medically unfit for service.

3 Section 9.6.21 (Recreation leave travel by private vehicle)

Omit section, substitute:

9.6.21   Recreation leave travel by private vehicle

If a member has been granted recreation leave travel to an approved destination, the CDF may authorise their travel in a private vehicle between the member's posting location and the approved destination. Travel costs for accommodation, meals and incidentals are not payable.
