1  Name

This instrument is the Defence Determination, Conditions of service Amendment (Regional rent bands) Determination 2019 (No. 31).

2  Commencement

This instrument commences on 14 November 2019.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903.

4  Schedules

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Regional Rent Bands amendments

Defence Determination 2016/19, Conditions of service

1	Section 7.0.2 (Contents)
Omit "Annex 7.B Regional rent bands".
2	Subsection 7.6.1.1 (Overview), see notes
Omit see notes wherever occurring.
3	Section 7.6.3 (Definitions)
Omit the entries for "rent band" and "rent range".
4	Subparagraph 7.6.4.1.b.i (Suitable Service residence), see notes and note

Note: For the Puckapunyal housing trial members — this may be the extended Puckapunyal location in accordance with subsection 7.1.16A.
5	Section 7.6.10 (Market-rent-based classification)
Omit the section, substitute.
1.	A Service residence is given a classification by Defence Housing Australia if it meets the minimum housing standard in section 7.6.12.
2.	The CDF may give a Service residence a temporary classification for a fixed period if it has not been classified by Defence Housing Australia.
6	Section 7.6.11 (Rent bands)
Omit the section.
7	Subsection 7.6.13.1 (Rent band for a member's rank group), note
