1  Name

This instrument is Defence Determination, Conditions of Service Amendment (Meals) Determination 2018 (No. 32).

2  Commencement

This instrument commences on 12 July 2018.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903.

4  Schedules

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments to meals

Defence Determination 2016/19, Conditions of service

1	Section 7.9.3 (Purpose)
Omit "set", substitute "sets".
2	Paragraph 7.9.5.2.c (Casual meal charges)
Omit the paragraph, substitute:
c.	They are living in and are not required to pay a contribution for the living-in accommodation.
Exceptions:
1.	A member without dependants who does not have to pay a contribution for living-in accommodation because they are in a room with four or more beds.
2.	A member who occupies temporary living-in accommodation below the level 1 standard.
3	Paragraph 7.9.6.1.b (Fortnightly meal charges)
Omit the paragraph, substitute:
b.	They are living in and are not required to pay a contribution for the living-in accommodation.
Exceptions:
1.	A member without dependants who does not have to pay a contribution for living-in accommodation because they are in a room with four or more beds.
2.	A member who occupies temporary living-in accommodation below the level 1 standard.
4	Paragraph 7.9.6.4.b (Fortnightly meal charges)
Omit "mean", substitute "meal".

Omit "$198.68", substitute "$197.29".

7	Paragraph 7.9.11.a (Member not eligible for allowance)
Omit the paragraph.
8	Paragraph 7.9.11.b (Member not eligible for allowance)
Omit the paragraph, substitute:
b.	A period longer than a day during which the member is provided by the Commonwealth, one or more of the following.
i.	One or more meals.
ii.	An allowance, other than food allowance under this Division, to purchase meals.
iii.	An amount to purchase meals.
9	Paragraph 7.9.11.c (Member not eligible for allowance), exception
Omit "positing", substitute "posting".
