Citation

1.

This Determination is Defence Determination 2017/6, Post indexes and overseas excess commuting costs – amendment.

2.

This Determination may also be cited as Defence Determination 2017/6.

2 Commencement

1.

Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

3 Authority

This instrument is made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903.

4 Amendment

Defence Determination 2016/19, Conditions of service, as amended,1 is amended as set out in this Determination.

5 Annex 15.2.A (Post indexes)

Repeal and substitute the Annex set out in the Schedule.

6 Subsection 15.3.7.3 (Public transport)

Omit "1,268.70", substitute "1,297.40".

7 Subsection 15.3.7.4 (Public transport), example

Repeal the example, substitute:

Example: The member used public transport to travel to and from work on 220 days.

The member counts 215 days and divides it by 215 as described in Step 2, giving a result of 1.

As 215 days is the maximum number of days, anything over that is not counted.

The outcome of Step 3 is AUD 1,297.40 multiplied by 1.

The member paid AUD 1,500.00 for the yearly public transport cost in the overseas location. The member's payment is calculated as AUD 1,500.00 minus the AUD 1,268.70 member contribution amount. The member may be reimbursed AUD 202.60.

8 Subsection 15.6.11.3 (School transport costs)

Omit "343.20", substitute "352.60".

9 Subsection 15.6.11.4 (School transport costs), example

Repeal the example, substitute:

Example: The child attended school for 162 days.

The member counts 158 days and divides it by 158 as described in Step 2, giving a result of 1.

As 158 days is the maximum number of days, anything over that is not counted.

The outcome of Step 3 is AUD 352.60 multiplied by 1.

The member paid AUD 400.00 for the yearly school transport costs in the overseas location. The member's payment is calculated as AUD 400.00 minus the AUD 352.60 member contribution amount. The member may be reimbursed AUD 47.40.
