This Determination is Defence Determination 2017/26, Living-in accommodation, meals, utilities and excess service – amendment.

2.

This Determination may also be cited as Defence Determination 2017/26.

2 Commencement

Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments relating to living-in accommodation

Defence Determination 2016/19, Conditions of service

1 Annex 7.4.A.21.1 (Absence from the accommodation)

Omit "28", substitute "21".

2 Annex 7.4.A.22.1.a (When a licence to live in ends), note

Omit "14", substitute "21".

3 Annex 7.4.A.22.2 (When a licence to live in ends), table item 1

Omit "14", substitute "21" (wherever occurring).

4 Subsection 7.5.27.1 (Advance payment of allowance)

Omit "14", substitute "21".

Schedule 2—Amendments relating to meals and utilities

1 Subsection 3.2.8.1 (Pro rating contributions), table item 2

Omit "one tenth", substitute "one fourteenth".

2 Section 7.9.7 (Member's choice not to be provided with meals)

Omit the section, substitute:

7.9.7    Member's choice not to be provided with meals

A member may choose not to take regular meals in the mess under section 7.9.5, table item 2 for a period of 4 or more days.

3 Paragraph 7.9.9.1.d (Contribution for meals not payable)

Omit the paragraph, substitute:

d.

They are living under field conditions or on a seagoing ship for any full day or part day.

Note: If the meal that is ordinarily provided by the ship is not available, any meal provided in a mess is free of charge. For example, a ship’s galley is closed down for a period.

4 Subsection 7.10.9.2 (Contribution for utilities – member living in)

Omit the subsection, substitute:

A member who lives in is not required to pay a contribution for utilities for any full day or part day they are living under field conditions, on a seagoing ship or on a seagoing submarine.
