1 Name
This instrument is the Defence (Conditions of service) Determination 2020 (No. 25).
2 Commencement
This instrument commences on the day of registration.
3 Authority
This instrument is made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903.
4 Purpose
This Determination is to provide travel benefits to a member for their children to travel to the member’s posting location for compassionate purposes.
5 Interpretation
In this Determination the following apply.
Child means a child of the member, regardless of age.
Posting location has the same meaning as given in section 12.3.15 of Defence Determination 2016/19, Conditions of service, as in force from time to time.
A person is required to quarantine means if they are required under a law of a State or Territory, or a law of a foreign government, to enter a period of quarantine in specified location.
6 Member who this Determination applies to
This Determination applies to the member who holds the employee number 8183213.
7 Travel
The member is eligible for return economy class flights for each child of the member to travel between the following locations.
a. The airport nearest where the child are living.
b. The member’s posting location.
8 Cost of Quarantine
1. The member is eligible for the amount of the charge for accommodation associated with a requirement to quarantine for each child if all the following apply.
a. The child is required to quarantine in connection with the travel provided in section 7.
b. A charge is levied for the accommodation.
Note: The benefit may be payable more than once for each child.
2. The benefit under subsection 1 may be provided as a reimbursement to the member or by direct payment to the organisation responsible for collecting the charge.
