Act N o . 68 , 1980.

An Act to amend the Defamation Act, 1974, with respect to certain publications to or by the Director of Equal Opportunity in Public Employment. [Assented to, 28th April, 1980.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1. This Act may be cited as the "Defamation (Anti-

Discrimination) Amendment Act, 1980".

2.      The Defamation Act, 1974, is amended—

(a) (i) by omitting from section 17D ( I ) the words "Board or" and by inserting instead the word "Board,";

(ii)   by inserting in section 17D (1) after the words "that Act" where secondly occurring the words "or to or by the Director of Equal Opportunity in Public Employment appointed under that Act";

(iii)   by omitting from section 17D (2) (b) the matter "or 122 ( 1 ) " and by inserting instead the matter ", 122 (1) or 122R ( b ) " ;

(b) by inserting in clause 2 (12) of Schedule 2 after the word "inquiry" the words "or investigation".
