Declaration of Quality Assurance Activity under section 124X of the Health Insurance Act 1973 – QAA 3/2014

I, PROFESSOR CHRISTOPHER BAGGOLEY, delegate of the Minister for Health, under section 124X of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (the Act):

1. DECLARE the Activity described in the Schedule to this declaration (the Activity) to be a quality assurance activity to which Part VC of the Act applies being satisfied in relation to the Activity that:

(i)the organisation engaging in the Activity is authorised to do so by a body that provides health care; and

(ii)it is in the public interest that Part VC of the Act applies to the Activity having regard to the criteria prescribed in regulations 23C to 23G (inclusive) of the Health Insurance Regulations 1975.

This Declaration is the Declaration of Quality Assurance Activity under section 124X of the Health Insurance Act 1973 – QAA 3/2014.

1. Commencement

This Declaration commences the day after registration on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.

1. Cessation

This Declaration will cease to be in force at the end of 5 years after the Declaration was signed.

This Declaration is made under the Health Insurance Act 1973.

The Schedule to this Instrument describes the quality assurance activity to which Part VC of the Health Insurance Act 1973 applies.

I-Med Network

Title:

The I-Med Network peer review quality assurance activity for I-Med Radiologists

Description:

This quality assurance activity relates to a quality framework in which to evaluate the individual practice, performance and competence of individual

I-Med practitioners by way of peer review through the assessment of the radiology services provided, gathering of collateral information from third parties, direct observations and/or performance improvement discussions in order to provide feedback and recommendations about improving the quality and conduct of the practitioner’s practice, clinical performance, clinical decision making and communication, and to make recommendations to I-Med Network regarding the provision of services.

The objectives of the activity are to minimise patient adverse outcomes and improve quality and safety on a nationally consistent basis.
