  1. Name of Declaration

This Declaration is the Declaration of Quality Assurance Activity under section 124X of the Health Insurance Act 1973 – QAA 8/2016.

  1. Commencement

This Declaration commences the day after registration.

  1. Cessation

This Declaration will cease to be in force as if repealed at the end of 5 years after the Declaration is signed.

  1. Authority

This Declaration is made under section 124X of the Health Insurance Act 1973.

  1. Declaration of quality assurance activity

A quality assurance activity described in the Schedule to this Instrument is, to the extent the Activity relates to health services provided in Australia, declared to be quality assurance activity to which Part VC of the Health Insurance Act 1973 applies.

1           Title:

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS) and Centre for Outcome and Resource Evaluation (CORE) Intensive Care Registries.

Description:

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS) Centre for Outcome and Resource Evaluation, run by ANZICS, provides for the auditing and benchmarking of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) performance across Australia and New Zealand through the following registries:

(a)    Adult Patient Database;

(b)   Paediatric Intensive Care Registry;

(c)    Critical Care Resources Registry; and

(d)   ICU Central line Associated Bloodstream Infection Registry.
