HEREAS doubts have arisen as to the validity in the Province Preamble.

of South Australia of the marriage of a man with the sister, or the daughter of the sister, of his deceased wife, and i t is expedient to remove such doubts-Be it therefore Enacted by the Governor of the Province of South Australia, with the advice and conscnt of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly of the said Province, in

this present Parliament assembled, as follows:

1. All marriages which have been heretofore, or which shall be Marriageswith da- ceased wifdf3 aiater,

hereafter solemnized, within the said Province, between any, the the

person and the sister of his deceased wife, or the daughter of the sistor, valid.

&er of his deceased wife, shall be deemed,' and are heriby declared

valid, and of full force and effect, any law or custom to the contrary

notwithstanding: Provided that this Act shall not render valid

any such marriage in any case where either of the parties to such

marriage shall thcreaftcr, before the passing of this Act, have lawf'ully intcrrnarried with any other person; nor shall the passing of this Act, deprive or be held to have deprived any person of any property which such person may have lawfully inherited prior to the coming into operation of this Act, or affect any lis pendens.
