Name of regulations
These regulations are the Crimes Regulations 2001.
Commencement
These regulations commence on their notification day.
Exemption for retail suppliers of knives—Act, s 497 (5)
Section 497 (1) (Retail supplier of knives to display sign) does not apply to a person who sells knives by retail if—
(a)the sale of knives is not a major part of the person’s retail business; and
(b)the person displays, at each place where knives are displayed for sale, a sign, in type no smaller than 12 point, with the following text:
It is an offence to sell a knife to a person under the age of 16. Proof of age may be required.
Exclusions—Act, dict, definition of knife
The following knives are excluded from the definition:
(a)a plastic knife designed for eating purposes;
(b)a blade that is not a knife blade or a blade forming part of any of the following:
(i)a machete;
(ii)a cleaver;
(iii)a sword.
