Regulations 1999

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to regulate the transport of explosives in or through the City Link tunnels and on certain roads approaching those tunnels.

2. Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 52 of the Dangerous Goods Act 1985.

3. New regulation 504A inserted

After regulation 504 of the Dangerous Goods
(Explosives) Regulations 19881 insert—

r. 3 S.R. No. 142/1999

'504A. Restrictions on the transport of certain

explosives through City Link tunnels and

approach roads

(1) The owner, driver and person in charge of a

road vehicle must ensure that the road
vehicle is not used to transport or carry
explosives of a type or in a quantity which,
under this Part, requires the display of a

Class Label on that vehicle—

(a) in or through any tunnel which forms a part of the Link road; or
(b) on that part of the eastbound carriageway of the West Gate Freeway east of the Power Street exit in South Melbourne; or
(c)

carriageway of the Monash Freeway

on that part of the westbound Melbourne; or

(d)

on any carriageway that forms an entrance ramp to such a tunnel.

(2) In this regulation, "Link road" means any

land declared from time to time under
section 61 of the Melbourne City Link Act
1995 to be a road and includes any part of

that land.'.
