I, TONY BURKE, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, make this Notice under subsection 16A (1) of the Customs Tariff Act 1995.

  1. Name of Notice

This Notice is the Customs Tariff (Safeguard Goods) Notice (No. 2) 2008.

  1. Commencement

This Notice commences on the day after it is registered.

  1. Definitions

Act means the Customs Tariff Act 1995.

safeguard goods has the meaning given in subsection 16A (7) of the Act.

  1. Specified safeguard goods

This Notice specifies safeguard goods that are classified under subheading 1604.14.00 in Schedule 3 to the Act.

Note   Subheading 1604.14.00 is the subheading for prepared or preserved tunas, skipjack and bonito (Sarda spp.).

  1. Quantity of safeguard goods

The quantity of the specified safeguard goods imported into Australia during the 2008 calendar year exceeds the quantity applicable for that year.

Note   Column 3 of item 1 of the table in subsection 16A (1) of the Act sets out the quantity of prepared or preserved tunas, skipjack and bonito (Sarda spp.) that may be imported before the Minister may make a notice.
