Act relating to Duties of Customs.
[Assented
to 31 October 1967]
BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate,
and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
Short
title and citation.
1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Customs Tariff (No. 5) 1967.
(2.) The Customs
Tariffs 1966, as amended by the Customs
Tariff 1967, by the Customs Tariff (No. 2) 1967, by the Customs Tariff (No. 3)
1967 and by the Customs Tariff (No. 4) 1967,¶ is in this Act referred to
as the Principal Act.
(3.) Section 1 of the Customs Tariff (No. 4)
1967 is amended by omitting sub-section (4.).
(4.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may
be cited as the Customs Tariff 1966–1967.
Commencement.
2.—(1.) Subject to this section, this Act shall
come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
(2.) Section 3 of this Act shall be deemed to
have come into operation on the third day of July, One thousand nine hundred
and sixty-seven.
(3.) Section 4 of this Act shall be deemed to
have come into operation on the fourteenth day of July, One thousand nine
hundred and sixty-seven.
(4.) Section 5 of this Act shall be deemed to
have come into operation on the eighteenth day of August, One thousand nine
hundred and sixty-seven.
Amendments
of Tariff Schedules with effect from 3 July 1967.
3.—(1.) Part II. of the First Schedule to the
Principal Act is amended as set out in the First Schedule to this Act.
(2.) Part I. of the Second Schedule to the
Principal Act is amended as set out in the Second Schedule to this Act.
Amendments
of Tariff Schedules with effect from 14 July 1967.
4.—(1.) Part II. of the First Schedule to the
Principal Act, as amended by the last preceding section, is amended as set out
in the Third Schedule to this Act.
(2.) Part I. of the Third Schedule to the
Principal Act, as amended by the last preceding section, is amended as set out
in the Fourth Schedule to this Act.
(3.) Part II. of the Third Schedule to the
Principal Act, as amended by the last preceding section, is amended as set out
in the Fifth Schedule to this Act.
(4.) Part IV. of the Third Schedule to the
Principal Act, as amended by the last preceding section, is amended as set out
in the Sixth Schedule to this Act.
(5.) Part I. of the Fifth Schedule to the
Principal Act, as amended by the last preceding section, is amended as set out
in the Seventh Schedule to this Act.
(6.) Part V. of the Fifth Schedule to the
Principal Act, as amended by the last preceding section, is amended as set out
in the Eighth Schedule to this Act.
Amendments
of Tariff Schedules with effect from 18 August 1967.
5.—(1.) Part
II. of the First Schedule to the Principal Act, as amended by the last two
preceding sections, is amended as set out in the Ninth Schedule to this Act.
(2.) Part V. of the Fifth Schedule to the
Principal Act, as amended by the last two preceding sections, is amended as set
out in the Tenth Schedule to this Act.

FIRST
SCHEDULE Section
3 (1.).
AMENDMENTS OF PART II. OF THE FIRST SCHEDULE TO
THE PRINCIPAL ACT
1. Omit
note 4 to Chapter 46.
2. Omit
paragraph 46.02.21.
3. Omit
note 10 to Chapter 48.
4. In
sub-item 48.07.3, omit “wall coverings;”.
5. After note 4 to Chapter 51 insert the
following note:—
“5. The following goods are specified for the
purposes of sub-paragraphs 51.01.995 and 51.01.996, that is to say, goods that—
(a)
were in transit to Australia on 25 May 1967; and
(b)
are entered for home consumption within 21 days after importation.”.
6. After sub-paragraph 51.01.994 insert the
