Customs Tariff Amendment Act (No. 2) 1987

An Act to amend the Customs Tariff Act 1987

[Assented to 26 December 1987]

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:

Short title etc.

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Customs Tariff Amendment Act (No. 2) 1987.

(2) In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Customs Tariff Act 19871.

Commencement

2. (1) Sections 1, 2 and 4 shall come into operation on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.

(2) Sections 3 and 5 shall come into operation on the commencement of the Principal Act.

 

Indexation of rates of duty

3. Section 26 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the table set out in subsection (1) and substituting the following table:

Repeal

4. Section 28 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection:

“(1) Each of the Acts referred to in Schedule 6, and any Act passed in 1987, to the extent only that it amends an Act so referred to, is repealed.”.
