Customs Tariff Amendment Act 1989

An Act to amend the Customs Tariff Act 1987

[Assented to 17 May 1989]

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:

Short title etc.

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Customs Tariff Amendment Act 1989.

(2) In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Customs Tariff Act 19871.

Commencement

2. (1) Sections 1 and 2 commence on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.

(2) Section 3 shall be taken to have commenced on 1 July 1988.

(3) Section 4 shall be taken to have commenced on 1 January 1988.

(4) Section 5 shall be taken to have commenced on 22 June 1988.

(5) Section 6 shall be taken to have commenced on 1 July 1988.

(6) Section 7 shall be taken to have commenced on 6 July 1988.

(7) Section 8 shall be taken to have commenced on 24 August 1988.

(8) Section 9 commences on 1 January 1989.

(9) Section 10 commences on 1 March 1989.

(10) Section 11 commences 7 days after the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.

Indexation of rates of duty

3. Section 26 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the Table from subsection (1) and substituting the following Table:
