No. 4 of 1972

An Act relating to Duties of Customs.

[Assented to 24 March 1972]

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

Short title and citation.

1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Customs Tariff 1972.

(2.) The Customs Tariff 1966–1971 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Customs Tariff 1966–1972.

Commencement.

2. Except as otherwise provided, this Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-fourth day of August, One thousand nine hundred and seventy-one.

Amendments having effect from 24 August. 1971.

3. The Principal Act is amended as set out in the First Schedule to this Act.

Amendments having effect from 8 September, 1971.

4.—(1.) The Principal Act, as amended in accordance with the last preceding section, is amended as set out in the Second Schedule to this Act.

(2.) This section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the eighth day of September, One thousand nine hundred and seventy-one.

Amendments having effect from 17 September, 1971.

5.—(1.) The Principal Act, as amended in accordance with the preceding sections of this Act, is amended as set out in the Third Schedule to this Act.

(2.) This section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the seventeenth day of September, One thousand nine hundred and seventy-one.

 

Amendments having effect from 1 October, 1971.

6.—(1.) The Principal Act, as amended in accordance with the preceding sections of this Act, is amended as set out in the Fourth Schedule to this Act.

(2.) This section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of October, One thousand nine hundred and seventy-one.

Amendments having effect from 11 November, 1971.

7.—(1.) The Principal Act, as amended in accordance with the preceding sections of this Act, is amended as set out in the Fifth Schedule to this Act.

(2.) This section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the eleventh day of November, One thousand nine hundred and seventy-one.

Amendments having effect, from 1 January, 1972.

8.—(1.) The Principal Act, as amended in accordance with the preceding sections of this Act, is amended as set out in the Sixth Schedule to this Act.

(2.) This section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of January, One thousand nine hundred and seventy-two.

Amendments having effect from 14 February, 1972.

9.—(1.) The Principal Act, as amended in accordance with the preceding sections of this Act, is amended as set out in the Seventh Schedule to this Act.

(2.) This section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the fourteenth day of February, One thousand nine hundred and seventy-two.
