I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Customs Act 1901.

Provisions relating to manufacture for home consumption

 1. Regulation 71 of the Customs Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) “Articles made wholly or principally from sawn or dressed timber” and “Dressed timber made from sawn timber only”.

Provisions relating to manufacture for export

 2. Regulation 73 of the Customs Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) “Dressed timber”, “Plywood and veneers from logs, stumps and flitches”, “Sawn timber” and “Undressed timber cut to size for use as dunnage”.

Transitional

(1) Notwithstanding the amendments of the Customs Regulations made by these Regulations, where, immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, particular warehoused goods in manufacturing warehouses were being utilized for the manufacture for home consumption of the following goods, namely:

  • (a)

    articles made wholly or principally from sawn or dressed timber;

  • (b)

    dressed timber made from sawn timber only,

the provisions of the Customs Regulations as in force immediately before the commencement of these Regulations continue to apply to those particular warehoused goods.

(2) Notwithstanding the amendments of the Customs Regulations made by these Regulations, where, immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, particular warehoused goods in manufacturing warehouses were being utilised for the manufacture for export of the following goods, namely:

  • (a)

    dressed timber;

  • (b)

    plywood and veneers from logs, stumps and flitches;

  • (c)

    sawn timber;

  • (d)

    undressed timber cut to size for use as dunnage,

the provisions of the Customs Regulations as in force immediately before the commencement of these Regulations continue to apply to those particular warehoused goods.
