Customs Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Customs Act 1901.

Commencement

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 January 1988.

Interpretation

2. Regulation 1a of the Customs Regulations is amended by inserting the following definition in its appropriate alphabetical position (determined on a letter-by-letter basis):

“ ‘Customs flag’ means the flag prescribed by regulation 2 for the purposes of section 14 of the Act;”.

3. Regulation 2 of the Customs Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

Prescribed flag for the purposes of section 14 of the Act

“2. For the purposes of section 14 of the Act the following flag is prescribed, namely, the Australian National Flag with the addition in the fly of the word “CUSTOMS” in white in bold character.”.

Prescribed ensign and insignia for the purposes of section 184 of the Act

4. Regulation 166a of the Customs Regulations is amended by omitting from subparagraph (2) (a) (i) “Customs Flag” and substituting “Customs flag”.
