REGULATIONS UNDER THE CUSTOMS ACT 1901-1935.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Customs Act 1901-1935.

Amendment of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations. 

The Second Schedule to the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations is amended by inserting after Item 20 the following items:—

Item No.  Name or Description of Goods.

21. The undermentioned goods produced or manufactured in any country not being:

(a) a territory under the sovereignty of His Majesty the King of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions beyond the Seas, Emperor of India;

(b) a territory under His Majesty’s suzerainty protection or mandate;

(c) a territory of, or held under mandate by any of the British Dominions

except such goods in respect of which evidence to the satisfaction of the Collector of Customs is furnished that they were in direct transit to Australia on or before 23rd May, 1936.

Vegetables (but not ginger) classifiable under Tariff Item 54 (a) preserved, or partly preserved or pulped

Asparagus tips

Cotton piece goods classifiable under Tariff Item 105 (a) (1)

Piece goods of artificial silk or containing artificial silk or having artificial silk worked thereon classifiable under Tariff Item 105(d) (1)

Piece goods of silk or containing silk or having silk worked thereon classifiable under Tariff Item 105 (d) (2)

Oil baize and fabrics similar to oil baize prepared with rubber oil celluloid or nitro-cellulose

Costumes dresses or robes including boxed robes

Corsets

Fur Felt Hats in any stage of manufacture for men and boys

Linoleums and floor coverings having a similar surface to linoleums

Iron and steel plates and sheets (plain)

Iron and steel wire of No. 15 or finer gauge (Imperial Standard Wire Gauge)

Valves for wireless telegraphy and telephony including rectifying valves

Carbon manufactures of all kinds including carbon blocks

Guns and rifles

Lamps, lanterns and lampware including lamps of glass but not including lamps for motor vehicles

Files and rasps

Gypsum, plaster of Paris and other like preparations having sulphate of lime as a basis

Polished and patent plate glass

Sulphate of alumina including alumina ferric

Toilet preparations classifiable under Tariff Item 290(c) (2) including face and talcum powder

Staves of wood, undressed, dressed or partly dressed

Home and other kinematographs including arc lamps for projection purposes

Paper-making, paper-working and paper box making machinery
